THERMOSTAT REPLACMENT WITH PICTURES

Post by Bad Company on Mon Dec 24, 2012 7:39 pm

If you haven't done a t-stat replacement the first thing you will notice is there is no more flat round 2 hole gasket. There are 2 O rings, one on the inner metal disc that opens and closes to regulate the water tempature and a larger one around the outer t-stat itself. The inner one is usually the culprit, pulling away from the metal disc leaving a gap that you can barely get a pencil point into. That's all it takes to throw the P0128 code. Some brands of replacement t-stats do not have the inner ring.

When you get code P0128 (Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature). Replacing the thermostat is the usual repair for this code.
