Using Multi - Quote

Post by Ike's Blackjack on Mon Feb 15, 2016 5:46 am

This has always baffled me so this morning I set out to see how it really works since I've never been able to use it.

So I was browsing around in the back office and came across the icons for Multi-Quote.
They look like this.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The only difference is that when you select it the icon has a slight and I mean slight red shading.
OK, I can go with that, however my issue was placing it in the reply box.

So that was what I played with. What I discovered was that to use the Multi-Quotes you selected after you select the posts to Multi-Quote, you then have to select "Post Reply".
That was simple enough. I always use the quit reply box. Oh well, old dog, new trick. Who said we're to old to learn?

Now to find out why after previewing the post we now have "WYSIWYG" (What you see is what you get) turned on.

OK, so that turned out to just be me. I must have hit the editor mode tab in here and turned on the "WYSIWYG" mode. Fixed now.

Just so you know, I spent 15 minutes in the back office looking for the WYSIWYG Command to turn it off to discover it was off.
That meant that it was in my settings that had it turned on.

Simple fix once I got my head to thinking.

With WYSIWYG turned on you see every image full sized in the preview window and it does not allow you modify it.
Turning it off allows you to just see the Text and you can move it or change it anyway you need to.

Just in case anyone else runs across this and doesn't like the WYSIWYG mode like me.

Now I think I'll change the Multi Quote tabs in here so you'll know you have them selected.

Oh I love browsing the back office. OK, located optional icons and didn't like the ones they have so I uploaded my own.
You'll know now "without a doubt" that you selected a post to quote.
This is what the new icon looks like:

Geesh, this entire post now seems like a rant. Sorry guys.

OK Ike- I feel better informed about this. Can't say it has happened to me yet tho.

Now the multi-quote works Great & you see what you are multiquoting. And the last part about hitting REPLY, was the part I never did either.

I used to multi-quote old school. by quote, copy -n - paste & then repeat etc,..

Thanks Ike.. 2thumbs

It was just something I never got the grasp of so I had to (in my mind) figure it out.
It wasn't until I discovered the 2 icons together in the back office that I figured it out.
I like now that you know when you have selected a post to multi quote.
The other thing that bothered me was the posting part.
I always used the quick reply box at the bottom as I think most people do.
I stumbled across the 'Post Reply" by just doing something different to see if it worked, and it did.
Glad it's helpful information.
